“Following notification from Dublin City Council, householders would leave their unwanted items on the footpaths in the evening and the Council would collect them early the following morning. I was fascinated by the various arrangements of objects and the care and attention given to them as they were being disposed of. I loved seeing the fashions and styles of different decades, 1930’s dressers, sofas from the 1970’s, lamps and luggage from the 1980’s, they reminded me of my childhood, of my Granny’s bedroom, parent’s sitting room and family holidays. I am interested in how belongings that never belonged to me can evoke personal memories.”

Thank you for being our guest, Mary!
