This week at APAD: Julia Lindemalm with her series Zoo World.
This week, a picture a day’s guest is Julia Lindemalm with her series Zoo World.
Since 2011 Julia Lindemalm has investigated the phenomenon of zoos. By arranging nature according to our own desires, we distance ourselves from what we crave for – the wild. Zoo World illuminates our unrequited love for animals and questions our self-imposed role as masters of the world.
Lou Mistrau is a strong, cold and usually dry regional wind in France, coming from the north or northwest, blowing across the Mediterranean coast from Languedoc to Provence, shaping the landscape, vegetation and character of its inhabitants.
This week, a picture a day’s guest is Thomas Bouquin with his series Lou Mistrau.
“The Lou Mistrau project reflect the sentiment felt and lived by my new immigrant status while revisiting places that are personal in south of France. They show the inability to participate fully in the activities taking place before one’s eyes, being at the same time both a spectator and a temporary resident.”
This week a picture a day’s guest is Baltimore (MD) based Duncan Madaris Hill. He shows us parts of his series Artificial Light. In Duncan’s own words: “My photographs of artificial light look at how lighting influences our perception of a place. I look for locations where the surfaces illuminated in the dark of night tell us a story. Whether by coincidence, or clearly designed intention, artificial light can inform, manipulate, and inspire.”
Thank you for being our guest, Duncan!
